That is exactly why I love Bronco Mendenhall as the coach at BYU. He so clearly is passionate about everything that he does. That interiew is right in line with the way that Bronco coaches the Cougars. It was fearless, it was open it was honest. Did he potentially make some PR blunders? Yeah. He said "non-members." But he was sincere, he was frank, and he was clearly "fully invested" in "the quest!!" Bronco is just what the doctor ordered for this program! If he's here long enough I wouldn't be surprised to one day have the Cougs playing on the Bronco Mendenhall Field at Levell Edwards Stadium.
“I’m not sure now I’d like to coach any other type of young man besides the ones here that are so conscientious and diligent.”

Nice…
I love the ending of the interview. Bronco dropping, "have a nice day."
I like Bronco a lot I think he is a great coach and fits this program near perfectly. In contrast the only thing that scares me for this program is the fact that they are recruiting players that meet the honor code rather then the athletic ability this program requires. There are plenty of very athletic athletes who are great players and great human beings who have premedical sex, and drink alcohol in moderation. Utah is a bubble, the rest of the United States does not frown so strongly on these events. Do not think I condone Alcohol during the season, when our team needs to be at near perfect physical shape, but pre-martial sex, hmmm how many top recruits are going to want to play living that kind of standard? In addition Im not saying that we can’t find great athletic LDS members for this team, Im just saying lets putt our hand in a bigger Jar of talent and not limit our self to the opportunities of top recruits.
Welcome to BYU and the honor code. Crowton tried to recruit the "talented" football players and look what happened. They all got kicked out of BYU and left a black mark on the program.
I think that Bronco does try to go and get players that are talented. He just won't bend and try to get players that won't live by the honor code. Crowton was more concerned about getting talent rather than someone that could attend BYU. Lets face it BYU is a religious school, so players will have to live by some kind of standard.
