Mark,
As a fellow lifelong mets fan, i share your pain. I think the worst part about the final game was the fact that we got to see the back to back jacks and watch the team fall apart instead of just hearing abouit it. It's only my second year of mets fanhood and no one told me it would be this hard. I'm here for you until next year, stay strong.
Cousin Pete
I don't get it! Number seven! They haven't played anyone and everyone they beat is terrible. cbs has their strength of schedule at 111! The teams they have played so far are a combined three and eleven. and if you zoobies wanna include the d 2 school, which you always do, they combine for 5 and 13! I only can think they are putting them up so high to embarrass another over rated mid major like HI to prove they don't belong there. You could never convince me they are better than florida georgia usc auburn... who all play except maybe usc, very tough schedules. byu's 111 ranking in the sos isn't hurting them now but in a couple of weeks if those teams below them only have on loss still, byu could very easily get jumped! 111, shut up about national championships til you play better. I heard they scheduled davis high next year. only nine teams in the nation have it easier than the cougarettes.
sorry i meant play better teams not just play better.
It's hard to judge how good a team is going to be 4 years from the time you schedule them. So BYU schedules teams like UCLA, and Washington, who usually are pretty good pac-ten teams. This year they both aren't that good. How the heck was BYU supposed to know the huskies and bruins were going to suck this year. BYU's schedule this year is good if you're looking at it 4 years ago. Schedule a D2 team get a win to start the season, then play two quality teams to prove you belong, then soften up with utah state and a crappy MWC team like wyoming to get the wins up, just in case we lose one of the two good non-conference games. So Larr BYU is trying to get some good teams in Provo. The Schedule for the next few years, 2009 we have FSU at home and then we go to ASU. Thats a pretty good schedule. 2010, Washington at home, then @FSU then @ Notre Dame. 2011, @washington, home for ASU and Notre Dame. I think BYU does a great job of getting a good balanced schedule. So how about you shut up Larr and take a seat, and watch the cougs roll and prove they belong in the top ten. Do a little research next time you post.
anonymous, as another anonymous i must say you have a point but no matter when you schedule if it is weak, it's weak. and we're talking about this year, not 2011. how weak are the teams they've played? combined the teams they've played have beaten two division one opponents (utah state beat idaho and ucla beat tennessee) how's that for reasearch? by the way max hall looked nothing but confused against utah state, i thought he was a heisman candidate, not soneone who would throw two picks and look befuddled by the usu defense. maybe he needs to talk to his bishop or something, i don't know, unless the aggies are that good...
As a braves fan I can't help myself, everytime I think of the Mets I smile. But don't worry brother, October is here! And we both can cheer for the Phillies to lose. Oh and by the way I welcomed Tom Glavine back with open arms after last year. Once a brave always a brave.
